PAGB Inter-Club PDI Championship

Both Eryri and Beaumaris clubs, who
represented the NWPA at the first PAGB Inter-Club PDI
Championship, beat the respective clubs from South Wales and
indeed held their own against the L&CPU clubs.  Wigan 10
soundly beat all the other clubs this year. All in all an excellent day
with many great pictures to be seen.  If you missed this event attend the Print Championship in Deeside at the
end of October where we'll be represented by Eryri and Wrexham clubs.

PAGB Inter-Federation Projected Image Competition

Here are our results from the PAGB Inter-Federation Projected Image Competition.

We've done remarkably well this year - with  6 images accepted  (I'm sure it's the highest number we've ever had accepted) out of our total entry of 15,   becoming  8th  overall.

Once again, congratulations to Tom Dodd,  David Flitcroft, and especially to Gareth Jenkins with all his three images accepted.

The Federation results were  :-

  1    Midland Counties PF            11.25
=2    Chiltern Assn. of CC            11.00
=2    Lancs & Cheshire PU           11.00
  4    East Anglian F                      10.672
  5    Yorkshire PU                       10.419
  6    Scottish PF                           10.375
  7    N & E Midlands PF              10.318
  8    NWPA                                 10 267
  9    Southern PF                          10.235

15    Welsh PF                                 9.76

The Projected Image Exhibition will this year be in the form of a CD,  and each Federation will receive two copies to be retained for viewing by clubs (at a cost of £15).  In future, this will remove the need for viewing to be confined to 2 weeks per Federation.

Note :   the PAGB Excecutive rules that because of author and PAGB copyright, "it is not permitted to copy all or any part of the CD".

Consequently, any North Wales club not scheduled to receive the PAGB Projected Image Exhibition next February may now request the loan of the CD at some later date !!

Again, many thanks to all those who submitted images for our NWPA entry,  and also those members involved in the selection for our entry.

Emyr Roberts.

Our selected images can be seen on the 'Gallery' page. To see the scores given to these images click here

Celtic Challenge.

PAGB NEWSLETTERS

Some of you will have received the new style PAGB e-Newsletters. The first issue featured the PAGB GB Cup. Following the successful first GB Cup last winter, the next one will have a closing date of 17 November.

The second issue gave details of the PAGB Club Print Championship which will be held on Saturday 25th October at Deeside College, near Chester. This is the nearest that a major national event comes to us in North Wales and it is well worth going along to see the high quality prints and meet lots of like-minded people. Those of you who attended the Judging Seminar earlier this year, including all North Wales judges, some of whom were not present, should find it particularly interesting to see the standard of photography across the country, as well as the type of picture which is currently being successful.
Tickets: £7.50 each Send cheque payable to PAGB + stamped addressed envelope
to: Christine Langford, Ty Ni, Gwydryn Drive, Abersoch. LL53 7HU.

If you are not already on the mailing list for these e-Newsletters, register with Rod Wheelans by sending your e-mail address to rod@creative-camera.co.uk. You will then receive full information on these events and all future ones.

Llandudno P.S. Represent the NWPA at Warwick

Having won the Slide/Projected Image section in a Battle against the other clubs of the NWPA on 6th April 08 at Craig-y-Don, Llandudno, we found ourselves being the only club representing North Wales at the last Inter Club Slide Championship of the PAGB at the Arts Centre of The University of Warwick on Sat. 12 July 2008. It was up to us to show the PAGB what we could do!
England and Scotland would be out in force but unfortunately Northern Ireland were not to be represented, but our colleagues in the South of Wales Federation would be there so we would have 3 clubs representing Wales.
Llandudno was very enthusiastic and a coach party of 17 – 16 members of the club with our illustrious guest, Margaret Salisbury FRPS APAGB EFIAP, were soon on our way to Warwick, flying the Red Dragon flags.

We were joined at the University by Peter Carlyon who was holidaying locally, so our total NWPA representation was 18, the largest at the meeting.
The venue was magnificent and the organisation superb as we entered into the contest with the other 30 clubs.

We beat:-
Cheam & Mid Sussex, both of the Surrey Photographic Association
Wycombe of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs
Pontefract of the Yorkshire Photographic Union
& Gwynfa of the Welsh Federation.

And we had equal points with:-
Spectrum of the Southern Photographic Federation &
XRR Photographic Society of the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs.

We are very proud of our achievement and I am sure that this ‘outing’
has given us a taste for more competitions at this level.

We also hope that we will be able to represent North Wales at the forthcoming Inter Club Print Championship on Saturday 25th October 2008 when North Wales are the hosts at the Deeside College-
Connah’s Quay, Flintshire.
