PAGB Masters of Print 2019

For many photographers a print is the only true photograph and so to celebrate this the PAGB offer the chance for individuals to have their best image displayed in an exhibition expressly for this medium.
Although this is a print competition for individuals, in 2019 the PAGB made it possible for individuals to combine their prints and enter through their club to share entry fee costs; the judging and selection took place on Monday and Tuesday 28/29 October.
The standard was very high and you needed to score well to have a chance of getting into the exhibition, which mostly scored 14/15 and only includes a few scoring 13. Some very well known photographers did not, unfortunately, achieve acceptance but they were very grateful for all the entries. Later issues of PAGB e-news will carry more information but, in the meantime this is what we know NWPA wise. Incidentally Bristol P.S. made a substantial and successful entry (63 prints by 14 authors) and will become the Hahnemühle “Gold Award Club”.
Entries were made by 96 clubs throughout Great Britain, 5 of them in North Wales:
Mold: 31 prints were entered by a total of 13 authors
Conwy: 10 prints were entered by a total of 2 authors
Blaenau Ffestiniog: 5 prints were entered by 1 author
Llandudno: 5 prints were entered by 1 author
Eryri: 5 prints were entered by 1 author
Only one of these was successful, a print from Llandudno, but the numbers we entered helped to lift the NWPA into 7th place amongst the 15 Federations.
